Dear Parents:
The week of Feb. 6 - 10th students in grades 2-4 will be taking the Iowa Assessments, formerly known as Iowa Test of Skills here at Roosevelt. This test has been re-designed and aligned to the Iowa Core. The foundations of the test are still to measure student growth and progress year to year, and to help determine how students are performing on the state curriculum as described in the Iowa Core. It will also help teachers identify a student’s strengths and identify areas that may need additional emphasis. The assessments produce information that enable sound decision-making and proved a focus for teachers to evaluate their instructions. As a parent you will be provided information about your child’s performance relative to the school, the state of Iowa, and the nation.
Using the results of the assessment, we encourage you to work with our school to help address educational needs of your child. We also would like to encourage you to speak to your child about the importance of these tests, including coming to school on time, eating a good healthy breakfast, and maintaining a positive attitude throughout the testing period.
At Roosevelt we plan to start the testing period at 8:30 am. We hope to be done each day between 10:30 and 11:30. We hope that this will help parents plan appointments as much as possible after the testing periods.
If you have any questions regarding the Iowa Assessments and the Iowa Core go to our school website: www.ccsd.k12.ia.us.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Radke and the Roosevelt Staff

Revisit or Sign Up!
This is a great time of the year to revisit your Parent Link Accounts. Just recently I sent out a Parent Link and found much to my dismay that a lot of the emails were undeliverable. It would be a good idea to check your Parent Link Accounts and update, as you need to. If you have trouble with this Mrs. Lundy here at school can help you through the process.
If you have not set up a Parent Link Account this is a great time to do it. We try to remind parents of Early Dismissal, No School Days, Field Trips, and other activities that your child maybe involved in using the Parent Link Program.
